Amazon has come up with a new way to pay authors for the e-books
they self-publish, Pages Read so instead
of making a small amount of money every time someone downloads one of their
e-books, authors will make a small amount of money every time someone turns the
virtual page. This model is not new in the sector 24symbols already
offered this model to the publisher they partner with.
However this model is not offered to all publisher/ authors
applies to a specific subset of authors: those who self-publish their books
exclusively through Amazon’s “KDP Select” program. Amazon with its vertical approach to business and with its predominate
position in the markets where operates is in the optimal position to test new
models depending on the author category.
In addition Amazon´s umbrella and technology also is moving to exploit
reading data generating the optimal scenario to pivot new models over existing
ones.
Equal to Amazon each large player offers
different value proposals to readers and publishers within the ecosystem of the
e-reading industry. In the following link
you will find a thorough analysis of the industry and also depicts the different value proposals to readers, publishers and authors.

Apple:
Books ecosystem based on Itunes digital entertainment The more important part of Apple’s role with regard to ebooks

reading simply lose their traditionally privileged cultural position.
Google:
